As many runners and families will go to Sungai Lembing in August, we thought it would also be good to share more about this beautiful township: located around 40km away from Kuantan, Sungai Lembing also known as the El Dorado of the East was at its heyday during the 18th to 19th Century. Decades has past and now the lonely and quiet town settles in with scores of historical remnants along with its majestic nature sightseeing spots.
Hikers, campers and nature tourists alike flock into this remote town for a quick and relaxing tropical rainforest retreat. The must do attraction here will be the half-day hike to catch the sighting of the rainbow by the waterfall. A dip at the cooling waters at the waterfall always freshens up after the hike followed by lunch prepared by the guides. Next, would be a short early morning hike up the Panorama Hill to view the sea of clouds amidst the golden scene where one could see the sunrise.
Aside, should one need more, a stroll into this old sleepy town will offer some hanging bridges, a tin mine museum, an actual underground mine with tunnels as well as a pebble river beach.
Sungai Lembing, a great and affordable city getaway 🙂
